How to:

Make changes to your membership

If you need to update your card details, change membership type or cancel your membership, please email [email protected]

We endeavour to respond as quickly as possible. However, please allow a few days for a response. We are volunteers and doing our best.

How to Remain in Good Standing

Good Standing means you are up to date with your dues payments. Members whose dues are current or up to 59 days in arrears are considered Good Standing.

You must be in Good Standing to vote on proposals, vote in elections or hold any elected position within the Union. If you wish to nominate for delegate or office bearing positions, it is important that you have been in continuous Good Standing for 6 months +.

Members whose dues are 60 or more days in arrears are considered to be in Bad Standing.

If you have been in Bad Standing for 3 consecutive months, you will be removed as a member.

The Membership Admin Committee does their best to contact all members in Bad Standing via email and text so they can get back in Good Standing. If you notice your dues payments are failing, please get in touch with us.

Reminders:

Amnesties

If you are experiencing financial hardship or a situation that means you cannot pay your dues on time, you can still remain a member of RAHU and be involved in unionising.

We offer dues amnesty for up to 90 days at a time. This may be extended a further 90 days, upon request. During the amnesty, you are considered in Good Standing.

Please email [email protected] if you require an amnesty. You do not need to provide evidence of financial hardship.

Cash Payments

The Naarm RAHU office in Trades Hall (Carlton) accepts cash payments for memberships.

If you wish to pay via cash, please email the Inventory Officer to arrange a time to visit the office.

Do not email card details

Please do not send your bank card information via email. It is unsafe and puts you at risk of fraud.

We will send you a secure and safe link for updating bank card information.

Updated Dues in the RAHU Constitution

The 2026 constitution has been updated. Dues categories are now as follows:

‘Membership dues

  1. The monthly amount of membership dues payable will be paid by each person on a regular basis:
    1. $1 per year for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander (voting member);
    2. $11 per year for financial hardship membership (voting member);
    3. $15 per month or $165 per year for membership (voting member);
    4. $20 per month or $220 per year for solidarity membership (voting member);
    5. $30 per month or $330 per year for homeowners (non-voting solidarity membership)
    6. non-voting members have a voice but no vote within the Union’

If you are on an outdated dues category and wish to move to the current dues categories, please email us at [email protected]

Working towards better communication

RAHU as an organisation runs a fairly light operation, we have no employees, no consistent income stream other the dues from our members, so sometimes our systems are held together with tape, some hope, and more tape.

Our email has previously been a bit of a spaghetti mess, with limited way for members to indicate what emails they actually wanted to hear from us.

You can update your profile or fill in a 1-2 minute survey to let us know what you want to hear about by email. Upcoming events in your state, your local branch updates, or if you want to hear about campaigns meetings etc.While Discord has been a big part of how members communicate, we know Discord is not for everyone, this is our way of making it easier to keep up to date without being overwhelmed with emails you don’t want.
