Chairs of each committee are elected every 12 months and assists coordinates members to get involved.


The Renters Rights Committee

  • Respond to members enquiries on their rights, dealing with rent increases, bond claims etc
  • Supporting members to self advocate on current issues
  • Mutual aid visits to members who need support when dealing with agents and landlords

    (example: Joey supported Bre to force their landlord to fix their broken heater)

The Campaigns Committee

  • Organising and planning union campaigns and events
  • Contributing to union policy
  • Working with other orgs to meet union objectives

    (example: Alison organised a phone bank to find members who were not getting repairs done)

The Social Media Committee

  • Planning a social media calendar
  • Designing graphics and posting to various social media platforms
  • Communicating the message of the union to the general public

    (example: Neil filmed a tiktok of a Bre talking about advocating for her rights to her landlord so others could learn from the experience)

The Communications Committee

  • Writing articles and media releases for the union
  • Communicating with media outlets
  • Creating a quarterly report of union activities

    (example: Abe wrote an article for the RAHU website about renters having a right to heating)

The Operations Committee

  • Maintaining and expanding tech solutions for the union
  • Keeping systems secure
  • Lower union costs on services where possible

    (example: Lee updated the website with a plugin to save everyone time on updating events)

The Finance Committee

  • Maintain financial records of the union
  • Develop budgets for the union and branches
  • Reimburse members for union expenses

    (Example: Sam created a budget for an upcoming event to teach renters their rights)

The Membership Committee

    (Example: Quinn updated Enders address so they would get updates for their local area)
