Any renter seeking to improve their tenancy should join as a member of RAHU.

RAHU is a member-run union, comprised of renters, homeowners, and people in unstable housing.
Collectively RAHU organises for the right to safe and secure housing, through self-advocacy, education, and eviction defence.

Renters and people in precarious housing are welcome from all industries, ethnicities and identities.

There is an urgent need to address the power imbalance between renters and property owners.

Together we can:

  • Educate and share information about our rights as renters and people in unstable housing
  • Support and defend each other from eviction
  • Represent ourselves in negotiations and tribunals
  • Build a long-term community of renters to navigate common issues

Learn more about RAHU and how we formed.

A person is not eligible to be admitted as a member if they are a landlord, real estate agent, property manager, social housing provider, police officer, bailiff or sheriff.

Join the union by filling out the form below. A delegate will get in touch to welcome you.
If you’re experiencing financial stress and cannot afford dues, please notify [email protected] to suspend dues payment.

You can join as a renter or someone in other precarious housing. This may include couchsurfing, homelessness or living with family.
