RAHU “Evict The Evictors” Emergency Fundraiser a roaring success!

On Saturday August 24th, The Renters and Housing Union hosted the “Evict The Evictors” fundraiser at Thornbury Bowls Club.

RAHU were fundraising for the Emergency Rent Assistant Fund to help members facing eviction.

The fund will be used as an emergency stopgap to delay an eviction occurring after a failure to pay rent.

Eligible RAHU members can receive up to $1200 per year. This will help our members buy time to fight evictions through state government tribunals, prepare an eviction defence, find an affordable alternative or get referred to emergency housing services.

Payments will prioritise First Nations solidarity. Everyone deserves safe and secure housing.
