Hands off the CFMEU

The well-orchestrated attack on the five branches of the Construction Division of the CFMEU is an unholy alliance of the mainstream media, then Albanese Labor Government and the Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU). Our union is at a crossroads fighting for its right to represent building workers. Our right to defend the CFMEU depends on how much of a fight the CFMEU puts up against being put into administration, and on whether the Left in the unions – officials and rank-and-file – are willing to put out the principled political arguments that unions should not be interfered with by governments. Standing on this principle is the part of the small chips in re-building rank-and-file unionism. The best way to fight corruption is through democratic, member control of our union, We cannot let the employers use these allegations as an excuse to destroy our union and take away our conditions.
